Responsible City Planning
Rhea Little vividly remembers the pivotal moment in 1969 when Brentwood, Tennessee, officially became a city. As a child, he remembers Brentwood as a quiet rural community next to its larger sister city of Nashville. Over the years, Brentwood has flourished and with leadership from Rhea and others, its grown into a thriving and well-planned suburb, while maintaining a careful balance between residential neighborhoods, commercial areas, and service institutions. Today, Rhea remains committed to preserving that vision.
Brentwood’s unique zoning structure has been a key factor in its continued success. With 90% of the city dedicated to residential areas, 5% to commercial development, and 5% to service institutions, Brentwood has maintained its charm, sense of community, and high quality of life. Rhea recognizes this balance as a blessing, ensuring that Brentwood remains a premier place to live, work, and raise a family.
As a longtime resident and advocate for responsible city planning, Rhea firmly believes in maintaining Brentwood’s zoning framework. He has no plans to alter the residential or commercial zoning regulations that have contributed to the city's prosperity. Preserving the predominantly residential character of Brentwood helps sustain property values, limit congestion, and protect the green spaces that citizens like you cherish.
The city’s limited commercial development has also been a deliberate choice, fostering a well-managed and controlled growth strategy. Brentwood’s businesses primarily serve the needs of its residents, preventing the over-commercialization seen in neighboring communities. This thoughtful approach has helped maintain the city's serene atmosphere while providing essential services and economic stability.
Service institutions, including schools, churches, and public facilities, play a crucial role in Brentwood’s well-being. The city’s planning ensures these institutions have adequate space to serve the community without disrupting the residential character of the area. Rhea acknowledges the importance of these services and supports their continued presence within Brentwood’s carefully structured zoning plan.
By upholding the city’s existing zoning policies, Rhea Little remains dedicated to preserving the qualities that have made Brentwood a desirable and well-respected community. He understands the importance of thoughtful growth and remains steadfast in his commitment to protecting the city’s residential character, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the Brentwood he has always called home.
