Brentwood Life Questions
Why are you running?

What is your major campaign Issue?

First, continue to be a good steward of the citizen’s tax dollars. Brentwood has not had a property tax increase in over 20 years and two years ago, we actually lowered the effective rate from .49 per 1000 to .44 per 1000. We do that by creating great efficiencies in staffing, seeking to use tax dollars with great wisdom and seeking to combat challenges such as rapidly escalating healthcare cost by self-insuring but having it managed so the services are still seamless for the employees. Because of Brentwood’s great financial strength the Commission can judge proposals on all merits and does not feel pressured to judge just on revenue. Second, manage traffic through wise projects and seeking traffic mitigation solutions at every opportunity. Often, we are able to construct these projects and mitigations with partnerships so that taxpayers have no cost or at most just half the cost. Third, to manage growth through careful study and evaluation of all items brought to us: each project or proposal must be stringently judged on its merits, using skills gained by education, experience gained by operating a business, and from the unique perspective of having served and been around Brentwood all my life. In all situations, seeking and learning with the input from citizens and always in my heart striving to do what is best for Brentwood.
Why is it important for you to win the election?
03/23/2013 -
To continue to serve Brentwood in the role of Commissioner, it requires I campaign and be one of three Commissioners chosen by highest vote count. To continue the excellence of Brentwood, which I have played a small part in, then to win is important. To continue wise decisions on adding to the Park system, which has doubled in size in the last four years, to continue financial excellence as represented by our outstanding fund balance and AAA bond ratings, holding property taxes low, to continue the stability of governance brought about by those who seek to do what is best in all circumstances and are not driven by a single political or personal agenda, to have the ability to serve all of Brentwood to the best of my ability, then it is important to win the election. A vote for Rhea Little is a vote for heritage, integrity and service.

What are some of the positive things of Brentwood?

What would you like to see/work on getting changed?
03/23/2013 -
Brentwood’s excellence as reflected by her high achievements across many categories makes one know that the biggest challenge is not what to change, but instead how to manage change so Brentwood’s excellence continues now and in the future. Laboring to continue to manage the City so we are financially strong, be sure the Smith Park project and Ravenswood Mansion are done in a way that they will bless generations to come. Seeking to adopt changes in technology to improve the Police and Fire departments, traffic mitigation, bring about efficiency of services, such as, public works, water and sewer management, road construction and improvements that lead to a well-run and well managed City. Due to an ingrained work ethic, I will seek to work as hard as possible to manage change and challenges in such a way that Brentwood improves and thrives in the future as she has in the past and continues to thrive now.
